DENVER — Colorado Democrats like U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet are afraid of taking a stance on ‘ColoradoCare’. The ballot measure being championed by state Sen. Irene Aguilar, D-Denver, would impose a costly, Soviet-style single payer healthcare system on hardworking Coloradans.
While Bennet is hiding from reporters on this and other issues, Gov. John Hickenlooper told 9News this evening that he opposes ColoradoCare.
Kelly Maher, executive director of Compass Colorado, released the following statement regarding Hickenlooper’s surprise announcement:
“Governor Hickenlooper isn’t known for taking a declarative stance on any issue facing the state, but even he knows that single payer healthcare is bad for Colorado. Now it’s time for Michael Bennet to follow suit and actually take a position. Instead of showing leadership, he caves to President Obama and the extreme fringe of his party on issues ranging from the Iran Nuclear Deal to Obamacare. If he wants to win reelection, I suggest he finally show some leadership and take a stand against single payer healthcare.”
