Compass Colorado launches series of calls to educate citizens
DENVER (February 13, 2013) –Tonight, while the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) holds a hearing on the 50-year contract with Plenary Roads Denver, Compass Colorado will launch a series of targeted calls to inform voters of their legislator’s support of FASTER, the authorizing legislation that allowed for the controversial contract.
“Coloradans can thank Democrats for the lack of transparency,” said Kelly Maher, executive director of Compass Colorado. “People are outraged that Democrats bypassed the people and subverted their rights. Now, people are faced with increased burdens and no recourse for the fact important decisions are being made behind closed doors.”
Senate Bill 09-108, known as FASTER, was a Democrat-sponsored bill signed into law by then-Gov. Bill Ritter. The measure had support from 32 Democratic legislators including current Senate Majority Leader Rollie Heath, D-Boulder, and House Majority Leader Dickey Lee Hullinghorst, D-Boulder, and recalled state Sens. Evie Hudak, D-Westminster, and John Morse, D-Colorado Springs.
