“It’s confounding to think that after being fired from the voters of her district now Senator Giron thinks she needs a promotion,” said Kelly Maher, executive director of Compass Colorado. “Giron’s condescension and her failure to listen to constituents is the albatross around her neck. There’s no reason to believe that it would be any different in a higher office with even more people to represent.”
Giron was instrumental during the 2013 legislative session in implementing extreme proposals restricting Coloradan’s constitutional rights. She also helped pass measures like Senate Bill 13-213, the companion bill to Amendment 66 the companion bill to amendment 66, the failed billion-dollar tax hike. She also sponsored House Bill 13-1303 which dramatically changed the way elections work in Colorado.
“After the recall election, Giron didn’t handle herself well. She had a nuclear meltdown on CNN and went on an ‘excuse tour’,” added Maher. “Most shocking though is that she seemed completely comfortable throwing out false accusations of voter suppression. She is unfit to be our chief elections officer.”
Pueblo voters chose in September to replace Giron with now state Sen. George Rivera, a Republican.
KDVR recently reported that Giron lost her district not only over her legislative record, but for a multitude of reasons including running away from her votes, making excuses and not listening to her district.
