- Despite the insane weather event yesterday, the Colorado Senate stayed open and ran some highly controversial legislation while most people were trapped at home. Finally, Senators were asking people to email testimony for the FAMLI bill because it was too dangerous for them to attend the hearing in person. Then Senate President Garcia basically admitted the move was retributive – aimed at Republicans who tried to slow down the process earlier in the week. Good work, people who claim to be most concerned with “health and safety.”
- The proponents of SB 181 (oil and gas omnibus) keep telling us it’s not a ban, but Joe Salazar says it will allow for a ban and that’s one of the reasons he supports it. 😬
- The economic ramifications of 181 could be dire. Most people are talking just about the oil and gas industry, but there are many other industries impacted. Rocky Mountain Steel (Pueblo’s largest private employer) said they could end up not expanding in Pueblo if it passes. Bad news bears.
