DENVER (July 10, 2013) – Governor Hickenlooper’s private announcement to a room of CEOs of his support for the billion dollar tax hike highlights his inability to make tough decisions.
According to KDVR’s Eli Stokols, Hickenlooper finally admitted to members of Colorado Forum this morning that he will support the billion dollar tax hike, currently known as Initiative 22.
As Stokols notes, Hickenlooper has repeatedly dodged questions regarding his support for the ballot measure when asked directly by reporters. Compass Colorado has called on the governor numerous times to reveal his position on the tax hike.
“Decision making clearly isn’t Governor Hickenlooper’s strong suit,” said Compass Colorado Executive Director Kelly Maher. “The way in which he announced support for a massive tax increase should offend Coloradans who deserve decisive leadership. Being cornered into announcing Colorado families should be burdened with an additional billion dollars in taxes isn’t something to do in a closed-door meeting.”
Maher continued: “Governor Hickenlooper should be honest and clear about the direction he wants to take our state.”
