Blocks shovel-ready Keystone pipeline project, gives handouts to Solyndra
(GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO) – Today, President Barack Obama visits Colorado to tout his phony new commitment to an “all-of-the-above” energy solution. The President, who used the phrase in his State of the Union speech, recently blocked the shovel-ready Keystone XL pipeline project that was estimated to create thousands of new American jobs and doled out $500 million in taxpayer cash to the corrupt solar company Solyndra.
“President Obama and his crony Ken Salazar have failed to help reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil and lower gas prices for hardworking Colorado families,” said Tyler Q. Houlton, president of Compass Colorado. “Overbearing regulations on America’s energy producers, taxpayer handouts to corrupt energy companies like Solyndra, and soaring gas prices have defined Obama’s first term in office.”
Solyndra, a bankrupt company touted as a “true engine of economic growth” by President Obama, laid off 1,100 workers and is under investigation by the FBI. Congress is also investigating the loan guarantee of $530 million from the federal government. Solyndra executives and shareholders have given tens of thousands of dollars to President Obama in campaign donations.
The Keystone XL pipeline, a 1,700-mile proposed oil pipeline from Canada to the gulf coast of Texas, was blocked by the Obama administration despite many predictions that the project would create anywhere from 20,000 to 250,000 new American jobs.
